LITTLE
FERRY, NJ — April 19, 2006 — TacT debuted the latest leap in room correction
technology, Dynamic Room Correction, at CES 2006.
DRC is the latest in a long line ground-breaking
technologies pioneered by TacT. Room correction
was introduced by TacT back in the 90’s.
It is important to note that TacT room correction
is to date still the only full-spectrum solution
on the market. It is the only technology that
measures the entire roomspeaker response and is
the only technology to correct for both frequency
and time domain abnormalities. Yet despite already
being the industry leader, TacT is constantly
conducting extensive research and development.
Unprecedented in its scope, Dynamic Room Correction
is our latest technological advance in live-music
listening technology.
Tact
DRC systems are the only ones in the world to
address the issue that sound perception is both
frequency and level dependent (Fletcher-Munson
Curves). What this means is that as you change
the level of your music, your perceptions of certain
frequencies will get skewed – you will perceive
certain frequencies as either louder or softer.
The natural tonal balance of your music will consequently
be lost. DRC is the world’s fi rst technology
to preserves natural tonal balances by dynamically
adjusting your entire system in accordance to
the human hearing characteristics, your hearing
characteristics. By using your relative loudness
perception, called equal loudness curves, Tact
DRC connects your sensory perceptions directly
into your system. It then, for every 0.1 dB level
change, dynamically recalibrates your system based
upon your unique loudness perceptions and Tact’s
full-spectrum room correction. All recalibration
happens on-the-fl y with absolutely no discernible
interruption to the listener.
Tact
DRC technology is now shipping in the new RCS
2.2 XP and M/S2150 XDM. More information on Dynamic
Room Correction technology and how it works can

On
Monday, April 17th, TacT launched a new
community-driven, collaborative room correction
database project. New RCS 2.2 XP software allows
users to transmit their system data, target curve,
and dynamic target curves. We will be assembling
this data, in a format fully searchable by speaker-system
type, on our website. The compiled data will be
an invaluable resource both to our automatic room
correction development efforts and to our customers.
RCS 2.2 XP users will have a breadth of target
curves to compare and choose from and we will
use some of the data during the fi nal testing
of our new automatic room correction algorithm,
now in beta version. We encourage your participation
in this project, as we will all benefi t from
an ongoing collaboration between the community
and the team at TacT. Please visit www.tactlab.com/Resources/RCDatabase/
for detailed information.
The
New RCS 2.2 XP
The new RCS 2.2 XP features a new motherboard,
a new DSP engine, and a new MIC card. All room
correction processing now happens inside the units.
The unit still supports our traditional, comprehensive
target curve selection and editing via a PC interface.
However, with the introduction of our new automatic
room correction algorithm, users can now choose
to perform all correction directly from the front
panel. The new DSP design was needed to accommodate
for Dynamic Room Correction (DRC) and the requisite
on-the-fl y response capabilities. The retail
price of the new RCS2.2 XP D.DD is 4,490.00 USD.
The AD and DA modules were not aff ected in the
upgrade and are still priced at 549.00 and 449.00
USD respectively. The cost to upgrade from the
RCS 2.2 X to the RCS 2.2 XP is 1,990.00 USD.
The
New M/S 2150 XDM Amplifi cation + Room Correction
2 ch. Solution
The 2150 XDM is the world’s fi rst product
that seamlessly combines digital amplifi cation
with full-spectrum room correction in one, self-contained
unit. To decipher: D is for digital and M is for
measurement. The room correction featured in the
2150 XDM is TacT’s new Dynamic Room
Correction innovation. The incorporation of Dynamic
Room Correction in the 2150 amplifi ers was facilitated
by the 2150 X upgrade. The 2150 X upgrade features
new boards and DSPs that allow for internal DRC
processing.
To
make the 2150 XDM a self-contained room correction
solution, we added a MIC module to the 2150 X.
The unit can now perform all measurements required
for room correction via that MIC module. The MIC
module is placed in the slot normally reserved
for the optional AD module. Customers wishing
to use the 2150 XDM as an all-in-one room correction
and amplifi cation solution will not be able to
opt for the internal AD module.
The
diff erence between the M2150 XDM and S2150 XDM
is purely external. The M2150 XDM features a prominent
volume-control wheel, the S2150 XDM does not.
Volume control with the S2150 XDM can be performed
through the provided remote control. In earlier
versions of the 2150 amplifi ers, the M2150 was
used as a ‘mater’ unit to control
multiple daisy-chained S2150 amplifi ers. In the
2150 X generation, any M/S2150 can be specifi
ed as a “master” unit from the front
panel. Customers will distinguish between the
M2150 XDM and S2150 XDM based upon the volume
control wheel and the added usability and aesthetic
it brings.
The
M/S 2150 XDM is the ideal solution for anyone
looking to add Tact room correction and digital
amplifi cation , in a seamless manner, to their
two-channel setup.
The retail price of the new M2150 XDM is 4,180.00
USD.
The retail price of the new S2150 XDM is 3,680.00
USD.
The cost to upgrade from an M/S2150 to an M/S
2150 X is 1,200.00 USD.
The cost of the required MIC module is 490.00
USD.
New
Automatic Room Correction Algorithm
We know that many of you love nothing more than
to spend days perfecting your target curves. Our
pro now ducts will always give you the tools you
need to perfect your target curves as meticulously
as you desire. However, there are times when we
all want an immediate, point-and-click solution.
TacT is now in the beta phase on a new,
auto- new matic room correction algorithm. We
are extremely excited about this advance, and
we will keep you updated on the project as it
progresses. |
