Tact-2.2 XP Crossover Performance

Tact-2.2 XP incorporates a sophisticated real time crossover-filtering package not found in any other two channels sound processor. If you need to integrate subwoofers with your main channels 2.2 XP offers an easy and yet most sophisticated way of accomplishing it. The effects of crossover filters can be evaluated by performing listening tests and by changing filter parameters on the fly while you play your favorite track.

Crossover filter package features include:

· High-pass filtering for the main channels and low-pass filtering for two subwoofers.

· On the fly filter parameter change.

· User selectable filter order from 2 to 24

· Crossover frequency form 40 to 500 Hz with resolution of 1 Hz

·  Independent adjustments of low-pass and high-pass filter parameters.

·  Each correction preset including bypass contains an independent set of crossover filter parameters

·  Crossover package can be controlled from PC interface or directly from 2.2 XP front-panel CRO menu option.

To further enhance subwoofer integration, 2.2 XP offers four channels time alignment and level balancing feature. Time alignment and level balancing combined with the crossover package result in a system with perfect subwoofer and main channel integration.

For a given set of loudspeakers (two main and two subwoofers), crossover filter selection is crucial and it is one of the most important factors for perfect sound reproduction. Initially, crossover filter parameters should be set based on driver manufacturer recommendations. Selecting best crossover parameters is something that combines science, art and personal taste.Tact-2.2 XP offers extremely fast and simple way of adjusting your system crossover filter parameters. All filter parameters can be changed and instantly engaged from 2.2 XP front-panel CRO menu option. In this way optimum crossover filter selection can be made based on your listening test and your preference.

Setting crossover filters using PC interface

To set crossover filters using PC user interface enter RCS/DRC screen and in the Tools menu select Set Crossover option. If 2.2 XP were in correction bypass mode the following screen would be displayed:

Fig. 1. BP Crossover filter parameters.

Simply enter desired filter cutoff frequency and filter order for both main and subwoofer channels. Click on Ok button to exit this screen and to engage the changes made to crossover filters. As soon as this screen is closed you can perform listening tests to evaluate the effects of modified filter parameters. Please note that when in bypass mode 2.2 XP does nod use correction algorithms. When in bypass mode, audio signal is affected by the crossovers filters only.

Setting crossover filters using front panel interface

To set crossover filter parameters from 2.2 XP front-panel select RCS-DRC and then enter CRO screen. The following screen will be displayed:
